Testosterone Cypionate drawbacks: it contains aromatic compounds that are slightly toxic to the liver. Besides, it promotes water retention and reduces testosterone production.
Why Do We Need Testosterone?
Testosterone is one of the main hormones that play an essential role in the development of both male and female body. This component plays a special role in the reproductive system. It is also involved in the development of bone and muscle tissue, and is responsible for many other processes. For example, drowsiness, irritability and other symptoms – these are the main characteristics of low production of testosterone. Testosterone secretion declines with aging, leading to various health problems. Fortunately, synthetic testosterone was produced in the mid-1950s. It could be used to artificially increase testosterone level in the human body. At first, Testosterone Cypionate was used for the treatment of men with low androgen levels. In the 1960s, it was also used to improve the structure of bones and treat menorrhagia. Testosterone Cypionate was also known as a drug for stimulation of spermatogenesis. As for today, thanks to esters such as Cypionate, many athletes succeeded in increasing testosterone levels with only 1-2 injections once a week.
What is Testosterone Cypionate?
Testosterone Cypionate is a good choice for athletes who don’t want to use frequent injections of steroids. Most often, this agent is used by those who dream of gaining lean muscle and improving power performance (particularly in conjunction with other drugs such as Nandrolone). Testosterone Cypionate is almost completely identical to Testosterone Enanthate with only a small difference – Testosterone Cypionate rarely causes irritation.
If we talk about the drug use in bodybuilding, then we should mention some beneficial effects for the athlete:
- Intense muscle growth caused by an increase in protein synthesis (Testosterone Cypionate promotes nitrogen retention). That is why this ester is used for mass gains.
- Testosterone Cypionate can increase IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1), which is responsible for a variety of functions, including recovery ability.
- Testosterone Cypionate can increase the activity of muscle cells and maximize the fat burning effect.
- Testosterone Cypionate helps improve athletic performance. The drug is an excellent choice for athletes in powerlifting and weightlifting. In addition, testosterone causes increased appetite and therefore leads to a significant increase in muscle mass and strength.
Testosterone Cypionate Side Effects
Unfortunately, this drug has certain side effects that can occur at extremely high dosages. Just like with other derivatives of testosterone, Testosterone Cypionate can cause hair loss or increase hair growth on different parts of the body. This effect is caused by the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. In this case you can either lower the dosage of the drug or use Finasteride. Typical effects caused by higher testosterone levels: water retention, swelling, as well as gynecomastia. Other side effects may include: enlargement of the prostate gland, acne, oily skin. You may include Anastrozole to avoid these symptoms. However, it should not be used in too high dosages, since such therapy may increase the risk of injuries and cause increased bone fragility.
Estrogenic side effects: High levels of estrogen may cause side effects such as water retention and gynecomastia. Testosterone should be combined with anti-estrogens (such as Clomiphene or Tamoxifen) to prevent these side effects. You can also add aromatase inhibitors such as Arimidex, which can effectively suppress estrogen synthesis. Note that the higher dose of testosterone taken, the greater the risk of side effects. Since water retention is a common problem during testosterone cycle, it is considered not very effective for pre-competitive training.
Androgenic side effects: Testosterone is responsible for the development of secondary sex characteristics. High levels of testosterone can cause androgenic side effects such as oily skin, acne, unwanted hair growth. Those who are genetically predisposed to hair loss may use Nandrolone instead of Cypionate, since it has lower androgenic activity. Women should be aware of menstrual disorders, facial hair growth, and clitoral enlargement. Concomitant administration of Finasteride or Dutasteride can weaken androgenic side effects caused by Testosterone Cypionate.
Testosterone Cypionate Dosage
The recommended dosage for athletes is 250-500 (750) mg per week, for a period of 4-12 weeks. This dose is sufficient to achieve an excellent effect. The drug is used in various combinations (for example: Boldenone, Nandrolone). Do not take Cypionate in large doses. The peak concentration of Testosterone Cypionate is achieved within the first 3 or 4 days. Therefore, you can start with 1 injection every 4-5 days. Women should avoid taking this drug due to the high androgenic activity of Cypionate.
Testosterone Cypionate Cycle And Post Cycle Therapy (PCT)
Testosterone Cypionate can be used in solo courses and in combination with other steroids. The optimal weekly dose is approximately 250-500 mg (maximum – 1000 mg). Higher dosages may result in more pronounced side effects. It should also be noted that Testosterone Cypionate should be used in a long course (at least 8 weeks). The drug goes well with Nandrolone and Trenbolone (in this case, athletes should use Cabergoline to reduce high prolactin level), as well as with other oral medications, such as Methandrostenolone, Stanozolol, Turinabol, etc. When used in combination with other steroids, testosterone dosages should be lower to avoid side effects caused by two or more drugs. Testosterone Cypionate cycle should include Anastrozole or Exemestane, as well as HCG, which in turn will support the normal function of hypothalamus and testicles.
During the post cycle therapy, it is recommended to use Clomid, Toremifene, or Tamoxifen. The dosages will depend upon the dose of testosterone. In some cases athletes may need to include gonadotropin therapy (if not used directly during the cycle), Clomid and Nolvadex. Do not forget that PCT helps restore original levels of testosterone, but also the overall health. Therefore, do not forget to add vitamins (especially vitamin E, zinc), testosterone boosters and chondroprotectors (glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate). Professional athletes may also add peptide agents or HGH.
